diy muffin toppers

These DIY toppers are a fast and cheap way to customize muffins. This particular batch was eating during the American Idol Top 3 night. Somehow, "themed desserts" became a tradition this spring. All you need to make your own is a round punch*, toothpicks, paper, color printer, and tape or glue. Print or draw your design one quarter of an inch larger than your circle punch. Punch out two circles (one for the back and one for the front). Attached a toothpick between the paper circles and stick into your muffin. Done!

This is the same idea, but with a square-a-licious punch instead of a circle.
* I use a Fiskars Large Round Squeeze Punch (available and cheaper at craft stores),
but if you are especially talented at cutting out circles—go for it!
