currently enjoying: ham & brie crepes

ham & brie crepe

Ok, funny story behind these crepes. This is the closest I've ever been to having to wash dishes for a meal. My co-worker and I found this little cafe our first night in Montreal and were looking forward to these crepes for 3 days. Over the course of those 3 days we realize that no one was taking our American Express cards and our cash was running out. We were stumped again when our ATM cards didn't work that morning. I think we were tired and hungry because we were half way through breakfast when reality hit the bottom of our stomached along with our cappuccinos. We had $20 (American) and $10 (Canadian) left. Based on the outlandish price of food we had experienced thus far, we realized there was no way we had enough cash. Meanwhile, Wells Fargo was having technical difficulties and wouldn't take my "turn my ATM card on!" plea.

Uhm. "Do you think if we only eat half then we can pay for half?" Yep. We were those people who get stuck in another country with no way to pay for the breakfast we just finished. So we started sweating and I started praying that my credit card would work even if my ATM didn't. That was the longest time it's ever taken for a credit card machine to approve ... but it approved. Whew.

These crepes suddenly tasted extra amazing.

If you're ever in Montreal, please go get a ham and brie crepe ... just bring enough cash!

  1. This place looks so adorable! Funny thing is, I live in Montreal and I've never come across it. So I will have to check it out, thanks for the warning regarding the prices though....
